CM&A Shares Silver and Gold with Clients

Cornerstone Marketing & Advertising, an idea boutique specializing in public relations, advertising and marketing campaigns, took home 12 Gold and Silver ADDYs and one Best of Show award on behalf of its clients during the Emerald Coast Advertising Federation’s 2003 ADDY Awards, held Feb. 22 at the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort.

Cornerstone earned five Gold ADDYs, one Silver ADDY and a Best of Show for its whimsical, fairy tale campaign created on behalf of The Village of Baytowne Wharf.

This campaign was promoted in print, radio and television and took Best of Show, electronic, for the radio campaign.

“We were thrilled with the ‘Where stories are told and made everyday and all things are possible’ ad campaign,” Mark Mathews, director of commercial development for Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, said. “It was an imaginative way to showcase the unique shops and restaurants found here at the Village while also capturing its spirit and charm.”

“It’s been a lot of fun working together to create this ad campaign,” Kim Duke-Layden, retail casting director for The Village of Baytowne Wharf, said. “It was an approach that I had never really seen before, and one that has worked for our merchants by highlighting how distinctive the Village is.”

Hidden Dunes Beach and Tennis Resort won a Gold ADDY for “A True Escape,” a color newspaper ad that touted the resort’s peaceful surroundings and jaw-dropping scenery.

“We wanted to showcase the incomparable beauty of the Hidden Dunes property,” Carol Thomas, Broker for Resorts Realty Group, Inc.., said. “This ad makes you want to grab your shades and hit the beach.”

Cornerstone Marketing and Advertising was also awarded Silver ADDYS for “Memories,” a print ad created for Flamingo Café, “The Senses,” a mixed media campaign created for Soleil et Luna, and “The Creator,” radio spots which were created for Christian International but never aired.

Judging the contest were Stephen Rogers, president and Chief Operating Officer of Chess Communications Group, a $60 million marketing and communications firm in Baltimore, Maryland; Brenda Edwards, president and owner of Advisors Advertising, Inc., a full service advertising agency located in Ocala, Fla; and Robert Taglairino, president and creative director of TAG: Taglairino Advertising Group, a full-service advertising agency located in Miami, Fla. that specializes in luxury brands, travel and tourism.

Judges poured through hundreds of entries and recognized 101 of the best and the brightest in the industry with Gold and Silver ADDYs. Three Best of Show’s were awarded in electronic, print and student categories.

All entries are first judged at the local level by the Emerald Coast Advertising Federation (ECAF), the local chapter of the American Advertising Federation. The ECAF, providing leadership and support to the local advertising community, strives to uphold the principle of high standards in the industry.

Work awarded a Gold ADDY will automatically proceed to second level of the three-tiered ADDY Awards Competition, the Fourth District ADDY Awards in May 2003. The Fourth District winners are then eligible for the ultimate competition, the National ADDY, presented in June each year by the American Advertising Federation.
